New pigeon talent in the Holleblokstraat in Scherpenheuvel!

When someone thinks of Scherpenheuvel in the world of pigeon racing, the name Verbruggen Gommaire immediately comes to mind. Gommaire has achieved a great deal in pigeon racing and is a well-known pigeon fancier both nationally and internationally! Gommaire lives in the Holleblokstraat with a view of the beautiful basilica of Scherpenheuvel and recently new talent Tim Van Roy has come to live there.

Tim has been surrounded by his parents and pigeons since his birth. For years they have been racing pigeons in Balen under the name Van Roy-Philipsen, a name that rings a bell because in 2022 this tandem from Balen won the national victory on Gueret against 8,375 old pigeons! Love brought Tim Van Roy to Scherpenheuvel and he bought a love nest (house) in the Holleblokstraat at the foot of the basilica.

Tim has never known anything other than they having pigeons at their home. His parents have been racing pigeons in Balen for years, mainly on half-fond flights. In his younger years, there was only moderate interest in pigeon racing because he was mainly busy with other hobbies, going out, at that young age you are not busy with pigeons.....

In recent years, interest has been rekindled and Tim has managed the administration for his parents by keeping track of results and processing them as input for coupling. In the meantime, he kept his eyes and ears wide open about how his parents worked there in terms of system, nutrition, training and playing with pigeons etc...

In the summer of 2022, Tim decided to look for his own loft. Here, the national victory of his parents may have had an impact? Winning a national flight and the interest of the pigeon press for this performance is impressive after achieving such a national victory. Tim had been living at the foot of the basilica since 2019 and one day found a well-maintained and relatively new loft at Lenaerts - Bosmans (Stal Koersel). He bought this loft, transported it and assembled it together with his parents, brother and friends at his new residence in Scherpenheuvel at the foot of the basilica. The beginning of his pigeon career.....

Tim now has a daughter of 1 year and 3 months and together with his busy job he has decided to focus on playing with young pigeons for the first few years. These pigeons are bred by his parents and are from the first round from Van Roy-Philpsen's breeders. These contain lines from Luyckx Raf & Lars (Geel), Vandoninck Michiel (Meerhout), Bosmans – Leekens (Beverlo), bred with their own kind. A beautiful loft, a beautiful location and a pigeon line to say U against (For our Romanian fanciers ola Paula) that promises for the future!

Tim does not hide his ambition. He loves the half-fond and national flights with young pigeons. Here he would like to score well and confront fanciers like Verbruggen, De Keyser, Verheyen etc... His goal is to put fire to their shins and achieve good results on these half-fond and national flights with his young pigeons!

Everyone at the local in Scherpenheuvel knew what performances Tim's parents achieved with their pigeons and were convinced that Tim could start season 2023 strongly! In the meantime, Tim's young pigeons have already flown 4 flights and have already been played on Soissons. There Tim started this week with 2nd prize and was narrowly defeated by neighbor Roger Vandegaer!

It is clear that Tim has ambition in pigeon racing despite his busy job and family. He wants to make something beautiful out of it, follow in his parents' footsteps and try to clock early pigeons in Scherpenheuvel, provincially and hopefully nationally. We are already looking forward to the upcoming national flights for young pigeons. These promise to be exciting flights in Scherpenheuvel...
