Young talent Liam Heroes opens the season with an impressive result!

On Wednesday, July 5th, the first midweek race was scheduled despite the unfavorable weather forecast, which caused several fanciers to withdraw from the Momignies race. A total of 195 young pigeons and 14 old pigeons were entered for the Momignies race.

This midweek race marked the beginning of the 2023 season for Liam Heroes. Liam entered 15 young pigeons and 1 old pigeon for this race. It is always uncertain how the pigeons will perform when participating in a race for the first time, but Liam was optimistic about achieving a good result as the pigeons had undergone thorough preparation and training leading up to the start of the season.

Although the predicted rainfall did not materialize, there was a strong tailwind that pushed the speeds of the pigeons above 1800 meters per minute. Within a matter of minutes, the prizes were distributed, and Liam performed more than satisfactorily in his first race of the 2023 season.

At the Heroes' residence, anticipation filled the air as they awaited the clocking of the pigeons. When Liam clocked one of his pigeons, he noticed that no other pigeon had been reported yet. Surprised by this, he thought that perhaps his fellow fanciers were playing a prank on him at the club. However, little did he know that he had early arrivals in his clock at that moment! In the afternoon, he had the first pigeon among the 195 young pigeons and 24 old pigeons. Nevertheless, it remained uncertain whether more pigeons would arrive, as not all fanciers report their pigeons immediately. With fanciers like Claes Luc and Daniels Francois, who had recently shown impressive performances, one can never be too sure until all the clocks are opened, and the results fly out of the printer!

In the end, Berghmans Leo's two young pigeons arrived ahead of Liam's, but Liam still secured an excellent 3rd and 4th place among the 195 young pigeons. Moreover, he clinched victory in the category of 24 old pigeons with only one entry! It was an impressive achievement for young Liam, and he can be proud of his performance in the first race of the season. Congratulations, Liam!

Saturday's race will present different weather conditions, with the wind favoring the pigeons from behind, and temperatures expected to rise on Friday and Saturday, making the competition more challenging. However, we hope to see Liam back in action this coming Saturday, ready to face the new challenges that lie ahead.
