Young pigeons from Liam Heroes are performing well from Momignies!

In our previous article, we talked about the emerging talents Aerts Jeremy & Nathan, who have been involved in pigeon racing from a young age, thanks to their parents and grandparents. Jeremy has learned a lot about caring for and racing pigeons from the expertise of his father Gerrit and mother Karine. But an even more impressive story unfolds at Groenhoef in Scherpenheuvel, with the Heroes family.

Liam Heroes didn't catch the pigeon bug at home; instead, he got it from his neighbor Naulaerts Maurice. At first, Liam collected various pigeon-related articles, but a few years ago, he decided to actively keep and participate in pigeon racing. Even in his first season, he managed to secure a place on the results of competitions from Momignies.

This season, Liam continues to perform excellently, achieving early arrivals of pigeons on a regular basis. His pigeons at Groenhoef have already been noticed multiple times. Although it sometimes took some effort to get them all back into the lofts upon arrival, Liam's pigeons' strong performances inspired him to strive for even better results.

Last Wednesday, there was a fair race from Momignies, which concluded in just a few minutes. Liam narrowly missed the top rankings, but some very early arrivals of his pigeons were noted. It's evident that motivating the pigeons to come home plays a crucial role, and if Liam succeeds in this aspect, it could lead to outstanding results.

Before the race on Saturday, July 29th, Liam entered 4 young pigeons and told me that he had conducted a rigorous selection, choosing only the best young pigeons ready to perform strongly. He motivated them and released them in a specific order because his first-choice pigeon was in an excellent position to fly early. The 248 young pigeons were released in Momignies at 8:40 am.

Every morning, after the pigeons are released, we check the arrivals. This time, we saw Liam topping the list of arrivals, with the 1st and 2nd positions! Later, this changed to the 1st and 3rd positions out of the 4 pigeons he had entered. It's admirable how Liam managed to position himself among the "specialists" of Verenigde Vrienden Scherpenheuvel in such a short time! Especially when you consider that Liam, with the help of some fellow pigeon fanciers, is working his way to the top. It's heartening to witness Liam's passion for pigeons, evident even in the details, such as his selected pigeons and the rationale behind the order of release.

Not all enthusiasts registered their pigeons, so we'll have to wait to see if Liam will take the top prize from Momignies against 248 young pigeons. Nevertheless, even if he doesn't secure the first prize, Liam's achievement remains remarkable! It's inspiring to see the youth perform so well and fearlessly compete with the strong competition in Scherpenheuvel. That's true class! Congratulations, Liam!
