Winners saturday 29 july

Grilliant weather conditions were predicted for the weekend of July 29th and 30th. With these forecasts in mind, there was great uncertainty whether the pigeons could be released at all. While the predictions promised a drier day on Sunday, the instability of the weather remained a concern for all flights scheduled for this weekend. The enthusiasts held their breath, well aware that this phase of the season was critical, especially with the approaching national race from Bourges for young pigeons.

On the flight from Momignies, 249 young pigeons were registered for the race. The unstable weather, with alternating clearings, clouds, and showers, created tension, but eventually, the pigeons could take off at 8:40 AM. Despite the challenging conditions, the pigeons returned smoothly to their lofts. An outstanding performance was delivered by Marcel De Keyzer from Messelbroek, who clocked a young pigeon at 9:52.43 AM, covering a distance of 118 kilometers and 860 meters. With a speed of 1634.3386 meters per minute, Marcel secured the victory. He outperformed the strong player Heroes Liam, who achieved an honorable second place. Claes Luc had to concede to both participants and finished from the 3rd to the 10th place, securing an impressive 8 prizes in the top 10. Ludo Pauwels from Testelt also put up an impressive show by clocking 7 out of 8 entered pigeons in the prizes.

For the flight from Nanteuil, a total of 199 young pigeons were registered. The victory was claimed by Roger Vandegaer from Scherpenheuvel. He clocked his young pigeon at 10:11.35 AM after covering a distance of 258 kilometers and 325 meters, achieving a speed of 1598.7107 meters per minute. Georges De Keyser from Messelbroek obtained a remarkable second place, while Claes Luc from Scherpenheuvel once again secured a fine third place, just as he did in the Momignies race.

The 1/2 fond race from Sermaises for young pigeons did not attract much interest, with only 93 pigeons registered. This is likely to affect the participation in the national race from Bourges on Saturday, August 5th, where it is expected that a lower number of fanciers and pigeons will participate. Some enthusiasts may opt to go directly from Nanteuil to Bourges to seize the opportunity. Nevertheless, Marc Van Oosterwyck from Testelt showcased an outstanding performance, claiming the victory. He clocked his young pigeon at 11:40.43 AM after covering a distance of 362 kilometers and 924 meters, achieving a speed of 1644.1864 meters per minute. The second place was secured by Gommaire Verbruggen from Scherpenheuvel, while Leon Vrancken, also from Scherpenheuvel, achieved the third place. On Sermaises, Louis Verheyen delivered a strong performance by clocking 11 out of 14 entered pigeons in the prizes.

The pigeon racing season has put its participants to the test this year, from extreme heat and headwinds to the varying weather conditions that strongly influenced the outcomes of the races. The pigeons had to fly back to their lofts under challenging conditions week after week, and when the temperatures dropped and became more pleasant, the weather also became more unstable with rain and strong winds.
