The pigeon racing season is drawing to a close rapidly, and next Saturday marks the final national race of the year, departing from Chateauroux for both old and young pigeons. With this last national race on the horizon, it's time to once again award four stars to the contenders for the local victory. Who are the favorites for this national race?
The season has been a true challenge, characterized by strong headwinds at the start, followed by intense heat and unpredictable weather. However, now it seems we can expect beautiful and warm weather for the final race. It's becoming increasingly difficult to find pigeon fanciers deserving of four stars, but who are the enthusiasts with a chance at victory next Saturday?
Especially among the young pigeons, only a few have been granted four stars. The main contenders for victory are De Keyser Georges and Van Winkel Jef, both with four stars next to their names. Whether they can live up to their favorite roles remains to be seen, but we suspect they will. They are formidable competitors!
Van Roy Tim receives three stars, and he might just snatch victory in third place. Tim can look back on an extremely successful first season with pigeons in Scherpenheuvel! Vandegaer Roger, currently not yet registered but expected to participate, also receives three stars. Roger is known to occasionally make a strong impression with his pigeons.
Of course, we must not rule out the other participants; they will surely put up a fierce fight during this last national race!
Moreover, the predicted clouds for Saturday have disappeared like snow in the sun, and the sun will shine abundantly. However, this will pose a challenge for both the pigeons and the enthusiasts due to the high temperatures.
The final national race will likely also be crucial in the battle for the 2023 General Champion, which is expected to be contested between De Keyser Georges and Verheyen Louis. These two names are annual contenders in the championships. Who will ultimately emerge victorious will be mentioned on our website next week... so stay tuned!
We also have high expectations for the old pigeons of Van Winkel Jef. These old pigeons will be brought to the starting line in the best possible condition to shine once more on Heuvelstraat in Tielt-Winge. Year after year, Jef is known for achieving first prizes and top awards in this last national race of the season!
And, secretly, we hope for a national victory; it has been a while since we last celebrated one. But as we look at the wind, even if it's not strong, it's not in our favor, and it will be challenging to secure a national victory this Saturday in our club! But dreaming is allowed, especially at the end of the season...
