First palm of the season for Vrancken Leon!

The promised beautiful weather, as predicted, was a fact, and the pigeons could be released in Momignies at 9:15 am. Due to the wind conditions, the pigeons were able to achieve higher speeds, leaving the fanciers eagerly awaiting the return of their winged athletes. However, here and there, signals were heard that the EC installation was not functioning properly for some fanciers. The importance of thorough testing of this installation was once again emphasized, as defects are always lurking.

Nevertheless, all fanciers were ready to welcome and clock their pigeons upon their return.

On the registration list, we saw speeds of almost 2000m/m, but in our region, it took a while for the first pigeons to arrive. The first report came from Geert Beken, and the registrations were coming in steadily. Until suddenly, the phone call came from Leon Vrancken, who reported that he had clocked for Geert, but his pigeons were not clocked...

As we investigated this further, a second phone call followed from Georges De Keyser, reporting that all his pigeons were home but not clocked. Panic set in among these fanciers, but soon we could clarify that the pigeons were indeed clocked but, for mysterious reasons, did not appear on the registration list.

The first flight of the season is always special, with the functioning of all systems critically evaluated. Unfortunately, a technical problem occurred with Bricon. Even when closing the last two clocks, it took us an hour to load them into the "Cloud." Could the sand from the Sahara have something to do with this? (Jokingly intended).

Leon Vrancken - Scherpenheuvel

This season, Leon switched to a pasbox from Bricon, resulting in panic during the first flight of the season when his pigeon did not appear on the registration list. He quickly realized that this must be a fast pigeon, and indeed it was. Leon clocked his pigeon at 10:22.20 am, achieving a speed of 1749.2079m/m, which earned him a first prize locally against 212 pigeons. In the Hageland federation, this also meant a first prize against 290 old pigeons.

With this explosive performance, Leon immediately secured his first victory of the season. He seems to be aiming to continue, if not surpass, his performance from last season. The competition in Scherpenheuvel has been warned: to beat Leon, they will need to come with excellent pigeons! Leon has set the bar high and is determined to continue his success.
