Tim Van Roy from Scherpenheuvel achieves his first victory of the 2024 season

On Saturday, April 13, a day marked by beautiful weather and pleasant temperatures, Tim Van Roy from Scherpenheuvel achieved his first victory of the pigeon racing season 2024. These favorable weather conditions were a signal for pigeon enthusiasts to massively basket their pigeons.

The Flight from Momignies

All enthusiasts chose to participate in the flight from Momignies, where a total of 495 pigeons participated in the flight for old pigeons. Thanks to the beautiful weather in Momignies, the pigeons could be released at 9:15 am. The tension increased among the participants, as all enthusiasts started with old pigeons that were in form.

The Victory

At Tim Van Roy’s home, Tim made everything ready to clock the old pigeons. Tim, who lives at the foot of the basilica of Scherpenheuvel and is a neighbor of Gommaire Verbruggen, saw the first pigeon dive from the airspace to the lofts at 10:18 am. This pigeon could be clocked at 10:28.24. This pigeon, with ring number 2022221-23, achieved a speed of 1882.7129m/m, indicating that it must have been an early pigeon.

Tim could immediately see at the registrations that this must be an early pigeon and secretly hoped that he would take the victory. This would be a nice start to the season. His neighbor Gommaire had to wait until 10.20.13 before he could clock an old pigeon. It quickly became clear that these pigeons would be at the top of the local result.

Confirmation of the Victory

However, Tim wanted to wait a little longer to celebrate the victory until after all the clocks in the local had been read out. After reading out, the local victory was confirmed and it quickly became clear that Tim and Gommaire clocked the first two prizes in sector 2 against more than 2000 pigeons! This proves that there are class pigeons at the foot of the basilica of Scherpenheuvel.

Expectations and Results

Despite the fact that the expectations at Tim were not particularly high, since the pigeon 2022221-23 had only been released once at about 15 km from the loft and then participated in the training flight from Fleurus to go to Momignies. It is a quiet pigeon in the loft, but given that this pigeon has not flown many training kilometers, Tim did not expect at all that she would be clocked so early. Yet she surprised everyone with her performance. This promises a lot for the rest of the season.

Passion for Pigeon Racing

It’s no secret that pigeon racing is a big passion for Tim Van Roy. In addition to pigeon racing, Standard Luik and his family are also very important in the Van Roy household.

First Independent Season

Last season was the first season that Tim played independently with the pigeons. Despite it being his first independent season, he already achieved mentions in the championships. This is proof that there is class in the lofts at Tim’s.

Prospects for the New Season

If this is a harbinger of what we can expect, then Tim is going to have a very nice season. The competition will certainly have to take into account the men from the Holleblokstraat. That is as clear as holy water!

The success of Tim in pigeon racing shows that passion and dedication can lead to remarkable results. We look forward to what the new season will bring for this dedicated pigeon lover.
