Championships 2024: An Exciting Finale

The 2024 championships are approaching their climax, and the latest updates are now available online until August 10th. The championship for yearling pigeons in the heavy 1/2 fond category has concluded, with the national flight from Bourges on Saturday, August 10th, being the last national race with a doubling for yearlings.

Verbruggen Gommaire Triumphs

The victory in the 1-2-3 heavy 1/2 fond yearling pigeon championship goes to Verbruggen Gommaire from Scherpenheuvel. Gommaire has had an impressive 2024 season, with no less than three national wins in the zone. He finishes in first place in the championship, just ahead of his neighbor Van Roy Tim. Tim can also look back on a strong 2024 season; in his second year as a pigeon fancier, he confirms the good performances of the previous season. The men from Holleblokstraat, at the foot of the basilica in Scherpenheuvel, have done well in 2024! The third place goes to De Keyser Georges from Messelbroek, as every season you can find Georges in our championships.

Top Performances of Yearling Pigeons

The three best yearling pigeons in the heavy 1/2 fond category are housed at Verbruggen Gommaire’s loft. The pigeon with ring number 2021008-23 achieved six prizes per 5-tally and won with a coefficient of 62.4756%. Van Roy Tim and Vanwinkel Jef complete the top 10 of the ace pigeon competition, as we find only three fanciers in this top 10.
