Successful Autumn Flight from Laon

For the autumn flight from Laon, 255 young pigeons and 5 old pigeons were basketed. The field of participants consisted of good enthusiasts, making it a battle to nestle in the top of the results. The 260 pigeons were released in Laon at 9:40 AM, and the weather gods were favorable, resulting in a beautiful flight from Laon.

Lucien Laevers from Rillaar had the fastest pigeon from Laon. Lucien clocked his young pigeon 2100115-24 at 11:45:50 and achieved victory with a speed of 1425.9974 m/min. With this, Lucien defeated Willy Nolmans and Robert Schroeven, both from Scherpenheuvel. With this first place, Lucien proved the form of his pigeons this past season, achieving good results in both speed and the heavy 1/2 fond. Next week, the last autumn flight of the season is scheduled, and one can look back on a beautiful season in Scherpenheuvel.

For the last national flight of the season, 179 pigeons were basketed, including 138 young pigeons and 41 old pigeons. The victory among the 138 young pigeons went to Georges De Keyser from Messelbroek. Georges clocked his young pigeon 2083223-24 at 3:48:19 PM and achieved victory with a speed of 1188.0794 m/min. With this, he left Louis Verheyen from Scherpenheuvel and Jef Vanwinkel from Tielt-Winge behind. Among the 41 old pigeons, the victory went to Jef Vanwinkel from Tielt-Winge. Jef clocked his old pigeon 2056243-22 at 4:06:12 PM and took the victory with a speed of 1128.1543 m/min. The national flights with the young pigeons were somewhat disappointing in Scherpenheuvel, especially the last national flight, where expectations were higher for some enthusiasts. Nevertheless, one can look back with satisfaction on the past season of national flights.
