Gommaire Verbruggen has achieved first place nationally in the zone no less than 3 times!

Gommaire Verbruggen: An Icon in Belgian Pigeon Racing

In recent years, Gommaire Verbruggen from Scherpenheuvel, Vlaams-Brabant, has delivered impressive performances in pigeon racing. Together with his wife Annie, he has been at the top of Belgian pigeon racing for more than half a century, and their name is known both domestically and internationally.

Weekly, Gommaire is among the top performers in the Scherpenheuvel pigeon club. He also achieves strong results in provincial and national races at the foot of the basilica. Despite many victories, including three times first place nationally in the zone, Verbruggen has more second prizes on his record than first prizes. This means that there are always early pigeons clocked in the Holleblokstraat in Scherpenheuvel, and you have to be very good to clock before Gommaire in races ranging from speed to the heavy 1/2 fond.

Gommaire also has the second-best old pigeons in the province of Vlaams-Brabant in the category of old pigeons heavy 1/2 fond. Although he is now over 80 years old, he remains young at heart, both within and outside the pigeon sport. As previously predicted, we will hear much more from Gommaire in the coming years. His competitors will also have to take Gommaire and Annie into account in the future.
