Promising Start to the 2025 Pigeon Racing Season in Scherpenheuvel
On Saturday, April 5, the official 2025 pigeon racing season will kick off. With sunny weather forecasted, pleasant temperatures around 18 degrees Celsius, and a moderate northeast wind at 2 Beaufort, it promises to be an ideal day for the 23 enthusiasts participating in the first race from Momignies. Together, they will bring no less than 370 old pigeons to the starting line of this competition.
A First for Belgium: Automatic Championship Calculation
What makes the 2025 season extra special is the new automation in championship calculations. After uploading the race results, the championship standings are automatically calculated—a first in Belgium. Participation Flexibility: Prize Flights or Refund of Entry Fees
Just like last year, the 2025 season offers flexibility to participants. Enthusiasts can choose to participate in prize flights or opt for a refund of entry fees. In prize flights, participants receive €0.10 per pigeon entered, while those opting for a refund will get €0.20 per pigeon entered for the championship races.
Super Prize Flights: Doubling the Rewards
New this season are the Super Prize Flights. These special races maintain the entry fee of €0.50 per pigeon but offer doubled rewards. A pigeon that finishes in the top part of the results list earns €6, in the second part €4, and €2 in the last part. More Guarantees and Attractive Prizes
The season is further enhanced with special guarantee races and attractive prizes, such as bags of pigeon feed worth €2,400. For races with at least nine pigeons entered at the 2.50€ pool, the last enthusiast on the results list without a prize at 2.50€ will win a bag of pigeon feed. All of this is aimed at making the game more appealing for everyone.
