Momignies: Challenging Weather Conditions Affect Participation youngsters

For the flight from Momignies, 69 old pigeons were basketed by 12 participants, while 183 young pigeons were basketed by 9 participants. The forecasts of unstable weather played a significant role in the decision-making of several enthusiasts, causing some to withdraw from participating in this flight. Uncertainty about the weekend's weather led to differing opinions: some predicted rain showers, while others suggested that an early release would ensure the pigeons reached home before the rain zone arrived.

The release eventually took place at 8:10 AM, with the wind pushing the pigeons toward their lofts. Among the old pigeons, Staf Vermeir (Aarschot) claimed victory, followed by Lucienne Asselberghs (Aarschot) and Geert Beken (Scherpenheuvel). Notably, Geert Beken and Leo Berghmans (Scherpenheuvel) achieved a 100% score. Berghmans continues to perform strongly in the local championships and the Samenspel Hageland championship.

In the young pigeons category, Victor Valvekens (Scherpenheuvel) secured victory with a speed of 1795.1042 m/min, relegating Louis Verheyen (Scherpenheuvel) to second place. *os Tuerlinckx (Tielt-Winge) clocked 3rd, 4th, and 5th place. Valvekens achieved a 50% prize rate, reinforcing his exceptional 2025 season performance, also proving his strength with old pigeons in the 1/2 long-distance flights.

Soissons: Early Release and Strong Performances

For the flight from Soissons, 198 old pigeons were basketed by 21 participants. The pigeons were released early at 7:40 AM. Geert Van Goolen (Aarschot) claimed victory with a speed of 1882.9428 m/min, followed by Bruno Vrancken (Rillaar) and Staf Vermeir (Aarschot).

Outstanding performances were delivered by Eddy Brams (Tielt-Winge), who achieved a 100% score, along with Lucienne Asselberghs (71.14%) and Rudi Van Vlasselaaer (66.67%).

Toury: Fewer Participants but Strong Winners

For the flight from Toury, 180 old pigeons were basketed by 17 fanciers. The number of participating pigeons had significantly decreased, despite limited entries in the national flight from Bourges.

The victory went to Willy Nolmans (Scherpenheuvel) with a speed of 1763.2843 m/min, followed by Marc Van Oosterwyck (Testelt) and again Willy Nolmans in third place. Marc Van Oosterwyck achieved an impressive 80% prize rate, with Robert Schroeven, Victor Valvekens, and Louis Verheyen also delivering strong performances.
