The weather remains an unpredictable factor in our sport. If it were possible to order ideal conditions, our pigeons would fly home under perfect circumstances every week. Reality is different: tropical heat, rain, unstable conditions – every week brings something new. Last weekend the speed pigeons could still be released on Saturday, but the middle‑distance flight from Toury and the heavy middle‑distance flight from Argenton had to be postponed to Sunday.

Arien‑De Keyser‑Kaier dominate Angerville (Erceville)

The 143 old birds in Angerville (Erceville) were released on Sunday at 7:10 a.m. In Scherpenheuvel it was once again a strong performance from the loft of Arien‑De Keyser‑Kaier from Houwaart. Their pigeon 1589446‑2025 arrived at 10:55:17, securing victory with a speed of 1611.6683 m/min.

And it didn’t stop at one top result: the trio also clocked the second and third prizes, with arrivals at 10:55:55 and 10:57:01. In sectors 2 and 3 this was good for second place against 2,187 old birds, with two pigeons in the overall top ten.

In Scherpenheuvel itself, Arien‑De Keyser‑Kaier placed no fewer than eight pigeons in the top ten. Only Patrick Rubbens (4th) and Lucien Laevers (9th) managed to break the dominance from Houwaart. Remarkably, only Willy Nolmans (Scherpenheuvel) and Patrick Rubbens (Tielt‑Winge) succeeded in clocking 50 percent prizes with their entered pigeons.

Libert Naulaerts shines on the heavy middle‑distance from Argenton – old birds

The pigeons from Argenton were also released at 7:10 a.m. In Scherpenheuvel, 75 old birds and 134 yearlings were entered for this national race.

Among the old birds, it was Libert Naulaerts who took full control of the competition. With 1st – 2nd – 6th – 17th prize from only nine entered pigeons, he delivered an exceptional performance. His winning old bird 2083370‑2024 arrived at 13:05:21, achieving a speed of 1495.4662 m/min. Four minutes later his second pigeon followed, still securing the second prize. The third place went to Arien‑De Keyser‑Kaier.

Jef Vanwinkel claims victory among the yearlings

Among the 134 yearlings, the victory went to Jef Vanwinkel from Tielt‑Winge. His yearling 2102174‑2025 was clocked at 13:09:51, winning the race with a speed of 1460.9141 m/min. Second place again went to Arien‑De Keyser‑Kaier, while Guido Broos secured third place. Also with the yearlings Libert Naulaerts perform very strong on the nationale race from Argenton.
